About the author

Mary Fields

Mary Fields is a professional mural painter and illustrator living in Seattle. "Carried Away” is her first venture into the world of graphic novels. Writing and illustrating this memoir began as a lark but quickly turned into an obsession. In the words of Anais Nin: “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection.”

This story of a life-changing journey taken in her youth was one she somehow needed to tell, and as a visual artist who loves words, this form, although new to her, turned out to suit her very well.
